Our fantastic football team made it all the way to the semi-finals, where we were finally beaten by a very good Goosnargh Oliverson's Primary School football team.

We made it through a very difficult group, which had many strong teams without losing a game or conceding a goal! There were star performances from every player, the teamwork that they all demonstrated was fantastic. Liam Greaves  led the team goal scoring charts with 4 goals, with a further 3 goals from Jack Greaves.  A superb goalkeeping display from Rowan Taylor-Harling who produced many fine saves to keep the opposition at bay. Whilst there was also strong defensive displays from Ben Hindley and Joe Holgate who stopped many of the oppositions attacks, breaking them up and passing the ball into the midfield effortlessly, allowing Lewis Procter, Jack Greaves, Chloe Holgate, Skye Saunders, Liam Greaves and Seth Barrett to show their amazing attacking skills.

We finished our group with 2 draws and 3 wins, scoring 7 goals along the way.

Fantastic effort GO TEAM RIB!!!!

On Tuesday 17th 0ctober 2017 Ribchester St Wilfrid’s did a fabulous job in the football tournament. For the past few years, Ribchester have been struggling to beat some of the teams but thanks to our fantastic team this year we got to the semi-finals!

Unfortunately we went against one of the hardest teams there which resulted in us coming 4th place.

The highlights of this tournament were Jack and Liam’s exhilarating goals which helped our team pull through and get to the semi-finals. Also one of our most valuable players was our keeper Rowan Taylor-Harling. He saved some of the most powerful shots we have ever seen although Rowan wasn’t the only one who was helping defend. The defenders Ben Hindley and Joe Holgate tackled even some of the best strikers to stop them taking their shots.

And finally, we couldn’t have done it without our favourite coach Mr Smith.

The day the football team had been waiting for was finally here - Ribchester St Wilfrid’s first tournament . On Tuesday 17th October 2017, the football team set off ready to win their first tournament at Longridge High School.

Later that day we began our first match against Barnacre A, last year’s hosts and winners of the competition. However Ribchester settled with a 0 - 0 draw .Then we were up against our rivals - Longridge St Wilfrid’s. Again ended with another 0 - 0 draw. After that we were about to face the dreaded Whitechapel FC and we finally come over with a 1 – 0 win. Later we faced Berry Lane, another very well organised team and once again we won 2 – 0 . After that we played against some of our local friends Max and Jada playing for Barnacre B.   We beat them 4 -0. The semi–final, the hardest team we had faced, Oliverson’s … faces began to drop as a goal finally shot into our net . We lost 3-0.

On Tuesday the 17th October 2017 Ribchester St Wilfrid’s entered a football competition at Longridge high School. When we got there, we only had 5 minutes till we played our first match against Barnacre, which we drew 0 -0.

Our second match was also a 0-0 draw and that was against St Wilfrid’s Longridge.

Then we played against Whitechapel which we won 1-0 thanks to our team. This helped us get nearer to going into the final. After that we just kept on winning more and more games.

When we got to the final, we played against the hardest team ever. For a small school that was quite a tough challenge. Unfortunately, we lost 3-0 and for us, that was hard to get over.

However we still came 4th out of 13 teams! And we did get into the semi-finals which was the furthest our school has got in a long time.

The last thing I want to say is thank you to Mr Smith because it was a great day and he is a great manager our school could ever have.
